“Up until 2016, I worked as a retail manager with SuperValu stores working directly for Musgrave. Over that time, following my studies in Art, Design and Photography I studied Marketing in the Marketing Institute, Business Management in DIT and Lean Six Sigma in UCC. It was during this time, I found a great interest in food, food producers and small businesses. In 2016, in spectacular fashion, I decided one morning that I needed to get the fear and decided I should handed in his notice that day to follow my life long dream to work as a professional photographer. Having worked as a freelance photographer for years shooting weddings while still working in supermarkets and with young children at home, I wanted to follow my fathers advice, “Find a job you love and you will never work another day in your life.
In 2017, I accepted a temporary position in the Irish Farmers Journal as a junior photographer. By the end of that year I took on the position as staff photographer and in 2019 I accepted the role as Picture Editor with the Agricultural Trust.
Over the last number of years, I have worked with many of small businesses to produce images for their brand. I enjoy seeing how my images bring life to a business or a project and I especially love what photography brings to family and friends. My work has since been seen in multiple publications and in 2022, One of my images were used on a cover of a book by Zak Moradi, Life Begins in Leitrim. In 2021, following work with bean to bar chocolatier Hazel Mountain Chocolate, my work was heavily featured in Kasha Connolly’s cookbook, ‘Hazel Mountain Cookbook’.”
“I have been shortlisted in a number of prestigious competitions on multiple occasions. These include being shortlisted as Irish Magazine Photographer of the year, Irish Food Photographer of the year and Agricultural Photographer of the year on multiple occasions. Five of my images have been included in the Professional Photographers Association of Ireland (PPAI) national exhibition over the last two consecutive years. I won a trophy in the arts and entertainment category in 2022 for my depiction on famed Irish musicians the Begley brothers.”
